Memorial Ecosystems (MEI) was formed in 1996 to harness the funeral industry for land protection and restoration, to fund non-profits, education, the arts and scientific research, and to provide a less expensive and more meaningful burial option. Our award-winning company (see www.memorialecosystems.com) aspires to protect, restore and permantly endow one million acres of wild-lands over the coming decades. More than merely financing protection, the inherently spiritual nature of our endeavor means that we can foster closer ties between human communities and the natural communities that they depend on.

The CEMETERY GROUP (see www.cemeterygroup.org) is composed of a listing of "green cemeteries" in the United States. We are in hopes that the concept of preserving parts of Planet Eden and nourishing the Earth with our mortal remains will "take off" as it has in Britain where there are now 200 or more "green burial parks" in operation.

Glendale Nature Preserve: (see www.glendalenaturepreserve.org) Every day across North America alone, 6000 plus acres of open space are leveled in an ever widening and endless swath of highways and airports, condos, malls, and factories. While the costs of purchasing, restoring, monitoring, and preserving land keeps steadily climbing, millions of acres of natural beauty are lost. Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve, however, is an enclave of escape from that trend. We think people should have both options: a simple (and affordable) burial, or cremation.
